Throughout the last fifteen years, Diana Barco has been dedicated to sexual and reproductive health work as a volunteer, at both the national and international levels.
Concerned with the high rates of teen pregnancy in her country, she became a member of PROFAMILIA-Colombia's Assembly in 2001. She has been on its Board of Directors since March 2003, where she has promoted friendly services for youth, youth participation, and the defence of sexual and reproductive rights.
In 2004 she participated in the IPPF/WHR volunteer committee in New York, which developed the framework for the Board workshop on strengthening the five A's in IPPF/WHR Member Associations; and in 2005, she facilitated the planning workshop on strengthening the five A's with the Peruvian Association, INPPARES in Lima. In 2008, she gave a lecture on the importance of family planning in the first conference of Women Deliver.
