The Programme of Action agreed at the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development recommends to the international community a set of important population and development objectives.
The Programme of Action is striking for the attention it devotes to the issue of women’s health.
It also includes goals in regard to education, especially for girls, and for the further reduction of infant, child and maternal mortality levels.
It addresses issues relating to population, the environment, prevention and control of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, education and technology among others.
