IPPF offers its London-based staff salaries and benefits that are very competitive against the general marketplace of the not-for-profit sector in London, UK.
Below are some of the benefits you can expect when you join us.
Work/life balance
Our working week is just 35 hours.
Standard office hours are 09:30 to 17:30, but in order to help you manage your time our flexitime scheme allows you to start at any time between 08:00-10:15 and leave at any time between 16:15-18:30.
Core hours, when you must be in the office, are 10:15-16:15.
A useful feature of the flexitime scheme is that it allows you to record extra hours worked and claim them back. With enough extra hours saved, you could take up to one day during a four week period. This is on top of your annual leave entitlement.
Annual leave
In your first year you will receive 25 days, increasing by one day each year up to a maximum of 30 days. This is in addition to public holidays.
Lifestyle friendly policies
IPPF wishes to be as supportive as possible to staff who may need to take time off work for emergencies and the unexpected. Policies such as the flexitime scheme, family and compassionate leave, parental leave and time off for dependants are geared towards providing work/life support.
Our maternity policy provides enhanced benefits well above statutory, including adoption and assisted conception leave. We also provide financial assistance towards childcare costs.
If you have extra responsibilities at home, you may be interested to know that we have a Flexible Working policy.
Salary and performance related pay
Salaries are based on a salary scale.
Salary reviews take place each July and are based on performance appraisal. So each year you will have the opportunity to increase your salary depending on the assessment of your performance during the previous year.
When you start, you will need to be in post for at least six months to qualify for a performance based increase in July.
A cost of living review also takes place in July each year.
Health benefits
The health benefits include a free private medical insurance scheme, annual well person clinics and flu vaccination, free health check for regular travellers and a yearly eye test.
Flexible working
Those who have children under 17, or who need to care for an elderly, sick or disabled adult where the member of staff is a principal carer, or those with a disability qualify to apply for flexible working.
You may apply for flexible working provided you have worked with us for 26 weeks.
Pension
Once you’ve successfully completed your probationary period, you will be invited to join the stakeholder pension plan. Staff contributions are voluntary, so we will still contribute to your pension even if you choose not to.
Season ticket and bicycle loans
An interest-free annual season ticket and bicycle loan are available. A monthly amount is deducted from your salary over 12 months.
Employee assistance provider
This is a free, confidential, 24 hour advice and support line, covering many areas including counselling and financial and legal advice. This is available to both you and your immediate family.
Life assurance
You will automatically be included in our life assurance scheme.
Social events
We have a fund allocated specially for activities during the year.
Study support
We recognize the importance of your continued professional and personal development.
