Asylum and Immigration Act 2006 – Requirements as of February 2008

Please bring with you any one of the original documents or two of the original documents in the specified combinations given in List A or B below.

List A

1. A passport showing that you are a British citizen or a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies having the right of abode in the United Kingdom.
2. A passport or national identity card showing that you are a national of a European Economic Area country or Switzerland. 
3. A residence permit, registration certificate or document certifying or indicating permanent residence issued by the Home Office or the Border and Immigration Agency to you as a national from a European Economic Area country or Switzerland.
4. A permanent residence card issued by the Home Office or the Border and Immigration Agency to you as a family member of a national of a European Economic Area country or Switzerland.
5. A Biometric Immigration Document issued by the Border and Immigration Agency to you which indicates that you can stay indefinitely in the United Kingdom, or have no time limit on your stay in the United Kingdom.
6. A passport or other travel document endorsed to show that you are exempt from immigration control, are allowed to stay indefinitely in the United Kingdom, have the right of abode in the United Kingdom, or have no time limit on your stay in the United Kingdom.

Or

First combination:

7. An official document issued by a previous employer or Government agency, e.g. HM Revenue and Customs (formerly Inland Revenue), the Department for Work and Pensions, Jobcentre Plus, the Employment Service, the Training and Employment Agency (Northern Ireland) or the Northern Ireland Social Security Agency, which contains your permanent National Insurance Number and name. 

And:

8. An Immigration Status Document issued by the Home Office or the Border and Immigration Agency to you with an endorsement indicating that you are allowed to stay indefinitely in the United Kingdom or have no time limit on your stay in the United Kingdom;

Or

9. A full birth certificate issued in the United Kingdom, which includes the name(s) of at least one of your parents; OR

10. A full adoption certificate issued in the United Kingdom, which includes the name(s) of at least one of your parents; OR

11. A birth certificate issued in the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or Ireland; OR

12. An adoption certificate issued in the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or Ireland; OR

13. A certificate of registration or naturalisation as a British citizen; OR

14. A letter issued by the Home Office or the Border and Immigration Agency to you which indicates that you are allowed to stay indefinitely in the United Kingdom.

List B

1. A passport or travel document endorsed to show that you are allowed to stay in the United Kingdom and are allowed to do the type of work in question, provided that it does not require the issue of a work permit.

2. A Biometric Immigration Document issued by the Border and Immigration Agency to you which indicates that you can stay in the United Kingdom and are allowed to do the work in question.

Or

First combination:

3. A work permit or other approval to take employment issued by the Home Office or the Border and Immigration Agency.

And:

i. A passport or another travel document endorsed to show that you are allowed to stay in the United Kingdom and are allowed to do the work in question;

Or

ii. A letter issued by the Home Office or the Border and Immigration Agency to you or IPPF confirming the same.

Second combination:

4. A Certificate of Application issued by the Home Office or the Border and Immigration Agency to you or for you as a family member of a national of a European Economic Area country or Switzerland stating that you are permitted to take employment which is less than 6 months old AND evidence of verification by the Border and Immigration Agency Employer Checking Service; OR

5. A residence card or document issued by the Home  Office or the Border and Immigration Agency to a family member of a national of a European Economic Area country or Switzerland; OR

6. An Application Registration Card issued by the Home Office or the Border and Immigration Agency stating that you are permitted to take employment when produced with evidence of verification by the Border and Immigration Agency Employer Checking Service.

Third combination:

7. A document issued by a previous employer or Government agency, e.g. Inland Revenue (now HM Revenue and Customs), the Department for Work and Pensions, Jobcentre Plus, the Employment Service, the Training and Employment Agency (Northern Ireland) or the Northern Ireland Social Security Agency, which contains your National Insurance Number and name.

And:

8. An Immigration Status Document issued by the Home Office or the Border and Immigration Agency to you with an endorsement indicating that you can stay in the United Kingdom, and are allowed to do the type of work in question; OR

9. A letter issued by the Home Office or the Border and Immigration Agency to you or IPPF which indicates that you can stay in the United Kingdom and are allowed to do the work in question.
