Robert Edwards, friend and former colleague of IPPF, wins Nobel prize

Professor Robert Edwards

Professor Robert Edwards, the man who pioneered the infertility treatment IVF, has been awarded the 2010 Nobel prize for medicine.

His efforts from the 1950s-70s led to the birth of the world's first "test tube baby" in July 1978.

He served on IPPF's Basic Science Committee.
