In today’s world HIV feeds voraciously on poverty and gender inequality.

Its most vulnerable targets are young people, especially young women and adolescent girls.

UNAIDS consistently reports a growing infection rate among young women and adolescent girls between the ages of 15 and 24, their susceptibility exacerbated, beyond biology, by the interplay of poverty and gender inequality.

Young people now represent half of all new cases.
