Commission on the Status of Women

IPPF at CSW 2007

We had staff from Central Office, Western Hemisphere Region, Brazil, Chile, Holland, India, Nepal, Peru and Sweden in attendance at this year’s CSW.

These are some of the key reasons we chose to attend this event:

  • To ensure strong language that advanced Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights was included within the final Agreed Conclusions
  • To ensure that any resolutions put forward on specific issues by Member States contained progressive language that advanced SRHR
  • To meet and influence Member State delegations and positions
  • To enhance working relationships with other progressive civil society organizations
  • To disseminate and highlight the essential work that IPPF undertakes around the world amongst key audiences
  • The priority theme for this year’s CSW was 'the elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence against the girl child'.

The CSW is a functional commission of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), dedicated exclusively to gender equality and the advancement of women.
