The Five A's

Abortion, Access, Adolescents, Advocacy, AIDS/HIV

These are part of our strategic framework. Introduced in 2004, they represent the focal points of our work until at least 2009. Gender equality is an implicit aspect of our work.

The Innovation Fund is an internal funding mechanism established by IPPF to promote ground-breaking initiatives in the five A's.

Advocacy

We campaign and lobby to improve legislation, raise awareness, and remove barriers to services. We advocate commitment to the goals of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development.

This means campaigning for renewed political support and encouraging donors to meet the agreed funding requirements to ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health services by 2015. Without this, we believe that the Millennium Development Goal of poverty eradication will not be realized. Read more...

AIDS and HIV

Our work in HIV/AIDS is in the context of sexual and reproductive health. Existing institutional strength allows our expansion into broader areas, such as prevention and care, treatment, and support. We work to remove the barriers that make people vulnerable to HIV/AIDS, and to reduce stigma and discrimination. We actively collaborate with HIV/AIDS organizations. Read more...
