IPPF+

Working towards a stigma free environment

Contact us ippfplus@ippf.org

IPPF+ (IPPF plus) is an initiative to provide a safe and supportive working environment for all members of IPPF living with HIV, at all levels of the Federation.

Inspired by similar groups, UN+ and Red Cross and Red Crescent plus (RCRC+), IPPF+ will provide an advocacy platform to all HIV positive members of the Federation: permanent and part time staff, board members and volunteers.

A landmark meeting was held in May 2009, inviting members of IPPF living with HIV from across the Federation to establish the IPPF+ working group.

IPPF+ was officially launched at the Governing Council in London in May 2009.

The meeting proved successful not only in providing a firm foundation upon which this group can grow, but also in recognizing the variety of experience and expertise that exists within the Federation.

This variety will ensure that IPPF+ is a vibrant and truly representative group that can provide a voice to all those that seek support either anonymously or openly.

Mission

Fostering a culture of respect within IPPF that welcomes, supports and meaningfully involves staff and volunteers who are living with HIV in the workplace.

Our objectives

1. To contribute to the strengthening and development of comprehensive HIV workplace policies and programmes throughout the Federation

2. To present the unified and organized voice of people living with HIV within IPPF to challenge stigma and promote their active participation in decision making

3. To advocate for a stigma free workplace environment within IPPF and ensure collaboration with similar initiatives at local, regional and international levels

In the near future there will be more information coming from the group informing people how they can become members and how to get more information.
