Prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS

Association Burkinabé pour le Bien-Etre Familial (ABBEF)

The project aims to integrate prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV/AIDS (PMTCT+) into sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services at 4 of the Association’s clinics in Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso.

A key innovation is the provision of psychological support as well as medical treatment to pregnant and post partum women in a holistic package under one roof.

The clinics are putting into place an integrated package of prenatal and postnatal services which includes voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) for all pregnant women and their partners, antiretrovirals (ARVs), psycho-social support and nutritional complement.
