Through this project our Cameroon Member Association is taking great risks in defending the sexual rights of sexually diverse groups in a country where homosexuality is illegal.
The project has provided, for the first time in Cameroon, a safe place for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) individuals to come together and access sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services specifically designed for them.
The project has been very successful in involving LGBT persons in project design and implementation right from the start to give them full ownership.
One of the key lessons emerging from the project is that Member Associations can actually use the concept of rights to extend services to previously marginalized groups and strengthen the 'sexual' in SRH.
