Mouvement Français pour le Planning Familial (MFPF) sites its activities in the wider context of combatting social inequalities and sexual oppression, through public information and education.

We operate through regional federations and departmental associations which between them reach about 350,000 people annually, half aged under 20.

The Family Planning Association (FPA) is a leading member of the High Council for Information on Sex, a national umbrella organization for non-governmental organizations working in the broad field of sexual and reproductive health and rights.

The movement members share the broad agenda of promoting people's right to choose their own sexual and reproductive behaviour.

The FPA provides reproductive health and other counselling services, for example on rape, marital violence and female genital mutilation. It runs training courses and produces material for health personnel, for example on adolescent sexuality, or on sexuality and disability.

MFPF are lobbying for improved adminstrative procedures with regard to the abortion law, to cut down on delays. We are also concerned with combatting the so-called `pro-life' opposition to fertility regulation.

We have also conducted solidarity campaigns with immigrant women, and with Family Planning Associations in other countries where women's sexual and reproductive rights are violated, for example in Bosnia and Poland.

MFPF have supported  young girls who have found themselves pregnant and unable to obtain parental authorization for a legal abortion, and have been refused authorization from a judge. We have given support and helped trace parents.
