The Centro Paraguayo de Estudios de Poblacion (CEPEP) is the only non-governmental organization providing subsidized family planning services in Paraguay.

We provide 5.9% of all family planning users with contraception.

Our clinics provide high quality family planning services, with diverse reversible contraceptive methods and, in some cases, voluntary surgical contraception

Some also provide:

  • maternal and child care
  • uterine and breast cancer prevention
  • colposcopy
  • PAP smears
  • diagnostic services such as sonograms and laboratory tests

CEPEP also has five clinics, which it partially subsidizes, and seven private family planning clinics. We provide family planning assistance to two of the largest hospitals in Asunción.

The rest of our clinics are located in cities surrounded by rural areas, covering the zones where family planning is most needed.

The Community Based Distribution programme supplies contraceptives through more than 400 community-based volunteers.

The associated doctors and midwives programme has 150 professionals who receive contraceptive and educational supplies from CEPEP.

Educational campaigns have successfully challenged and changed rumours and misconceptions about contraception.

CEPEP partially covers the family planning needs of the people not reached by the government programme.  Adolescents and adults living in rural and marginal areas of Paraguay at low socioeconomic levels are in most need.
