The role of the Vietnam Family Planning Association (VINAFPA) is to complement and supplement the national programme, by providing additional information, education and communication programmes and service delivery.
VINAFPA's project on providing quality reproductive and family planning services through community based distributors is designed for commune areas.
The aim is to close the gaps and shorten the time lapse between information, education and motivation (IEM) activities, and provision of simple contraceptive methods such as condoms and pills.
The total number of couples managed by the community based distribution agents stood at 97,941, and out of this 79,463 couples decided to use some form of contraceptive.
The community based distribution agents have resupplied them. Other organizations have used this project as an example to start programmes of their own.
