"I like the fact that volunteering brings a lot of different people together and they can learn from each other".

Yaya is a volunteer from Bwiam branch – a National council member.

He has helped to create awareness about sexual and reproductive health in the community, by promoting the health and spacing of children.

After attending an annual general meeting at the Gambia Family Planning Association (GFPA) Yaya decided that he wanted to get involved in such a transparent organization that had so many positive things to offer his own community. 

“I wanted to be part of it and help it to succeed.  Information and openness are very important. 
I have learned a lot about SRH and I'm glad that I am now able to talk about it openly with my wife and children.

I have received training in advocacy, community approaches and leadership and these skills have given me confidence and made me respected within my community.”
