SheDecides is a global political movement driving change, fuelled by actions in communities, with young people at its heart. The movement has been effective since January 2017 as a result of the reinstatement and expansion of the Global Gag Rule and has grown significantly since then. The movement is now guided by a Strategy 2019-2021 and a costed workplan and is embarking on a new hosting arrangement for the SheDecides Support Unit (SDSU) under the auspices of the International Planned Parenthood Foundation (IPPF).
The SheDecides Lead will have extensive experience in any of the following related disciplines: public policy, women’s rights, international development, political sciences, management and movement building. The Lead will also have experience in advancing gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR); leading complex partnerships and organisations; and experience of reporting to and working with a Board. They will also be used to managing transitions and building a high performing team.
The Lead will be a visionary thinker, a self-starter with meticulous attention to detail. They will be resilient and have interpersonal flexibility, be pragmatic with a solution-oriented mind set. They will have expertise in partnerships and working with young people. They will be a brand ambassador. They will be an effective team player, and work with people from diverse backgrounds. They must have personal credibility and strong professional networks. They are pro-choice. A Bachelor’s degree is essential, as is the ability to travel internationally.
With excellent English written and oral communication skills, and Spanish, French or Arabic desirable we look forward to welcoming the SheDecides Lead towards an exciting venture.
IPPF will host the SheDecides Support Unit. IPPF is a global service provider and a leading advocate of sexual and reproductive health and rights for all. IPPF are a worldwide movement of national organisations working with and for communities and individuals in 154 countries.
The starting salary is £70,542 per annum. The successful candidate will be hired by IPPF under the same terms and conditions as IPPF full-time employees.
