Fundación para la Salud del Adolescente Asociación Civil (FUSA AC) - Argentina

Grupo FUSA AC logo

Argentina has a legislative framework which is favourable towards sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), but access to services is unequal and training for professionals in SRHR service provision is scarce or inadequate. The Fundación para la Salud del Adolescente Asociación Civil (FUSA AC) became a full IPPF Member Association in November 2010, and is currently developing its programme of activities in line with IPPF’s core objectives on adolescents and young people, HIV, access, abortion and advocacy. It is taking the lead in designing youth-friendly services, specifically through specialist facilities, education and training for service providers. FUSA AC is benchmarking standards for a risk and harm reduction model to address unsafe abortion, and is working with a variety of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to advance sexual and reproductive health (SRH) service provision. Current work in HIV and AIDS is primarily informational. With reference to abortion, FUSA AC is focused on developing counselling facilities and improving risk and harm reduction (RHR) services at the Adolescence Department of the Argerich Hospital. FUSA is currently working to create a model which can be rolled out to other public facilities in Buenos Aires city. The organization is young, but its work is rapidly gaining momentum. FUSA works across the full spectrum of sexual and reproductive health services and rights (SRHR). Its engagement with publicly-provided clinics and facilities, allied to its central role in the SRHR NGO community in the country, places it in a primary position to become a key force in the delivery of SRH services in the coming years.
