Member Associations

Lobi Health Center Foundation has been contributing to Suinamese health since 1968 by providing qualitative integrated sexual and reproductive healthcare services.  Services include prevention and early detection of cancer and other non-communicable diseases, prevention of unwanted pregnancies as well as fertility guidance, HIV and STI testing, education and psychological support that respect the sexual rights of everyone. Annually an average of 20,000 people through 3 permanent locations and 30 mobile visits in 9 of the 10 districts in the country are serviced by Lobi. Stichting Lobi (LOBI) is an associate member of an umbrella organization known as the Caribbean Family Planning Affiliation Ltd (CFPA). The Caribbean Family Planning Affiliation (CFPA) is the only regional non-governmental organization (NGO) devoted to family planning and sexual and reproductive health in the Caribbean. CFPA serves 13 island Member Associations and 5 Associate Member Associations in the Caribbean, Central and South America. It supports these Associations with technical assistance and materials, and represents their collective interests at IPPF meetings and in the Caribbean region among governments and NGOs. CFPA Member Associations are located in Anguilla, Antigua, Aruba, Bahamas, Bermuda, Curacao, Dominica, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Nevis and St. Kitts, St. Lucia and St. Vincent. CFPA Associate Member Associations are located in Belize, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago. The CFPA does not offer any clinical services or distribute family planning methods to clients, but rather focuses its work on governance and institution-building among its Member Associations. The CFPA oversees, manages and analyses core grants to 7 Caribbean Member Associations. The CFPA also submits project proposals for donor funding on behalf of the Associations.  

Established in 1956, the Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago (FPATT) is a well-respected non-governmental organization in Trinidad and Tobago acknowledged by our civil society peers and the Government as a leader in the delivery of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services to the population.  FPATT consistently provides an integrated package of essential services to men, women and young people. As a Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) advocate, Gender Based Violence is a key issue addressed in FPATT’s Programmes. FPATT’s historical commitment to leaving no one behind continues to ring true in its engagement with marginalised communities. Its team remains dedicated to providing services to migrants, sex workers and LGBTQ+ people with respect and dignity.  FPATT’s success is highly dependent on brokering partnerships ergo funding. It also welcomes donations from the public and private enterprises who are similarly committed to human rights. With support from donor funding FPATT’s efforts can be amplified and reach our citizens that need it most. FPATT is a fully accredited member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). Locally, FPATT falls under the purview of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services and works closely with the Ministry of Health.  VISION: FPATT is a Leader in the Caribbean Region promoting and ensuring sexual & reproductive health and rights for all. MISSION: To ensure that every person living in Trinidad and Tobago acknowledges the right to the healthy expression of their sexuality and that all persons including the most vulnerable are supported in realizing this right.

These health centres provide a wide range of safe, reliable health care — and more than 90% is preventive, primary care, which helps prevent unintended pregnancies through contraception, reduces the spread of sexually transmitted infections through testing and treatment, and screens for cervical and other cancers. 1 in 5 American women has chosen Planned Parenthood for health care during her life. Planned Parenthood is proud of its vital role in providing young people with honest sexuality and relationship information in classrooms and online to help reduce the country’s alarmingly high rates of teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections. Nearly 1.2 million youths and adults participate in Planned Parenthood educational programs every year. On campuses and online, in statehouses and courts, in community settings, and in the media, PPFA is a visible and passionate advocate for policies that enable Americans to access comprehensive reproductive and sexual health care, education, and information. Whether talking with members of Congress, parents, or faith leaders, or arguing cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, PPFA fights for commonsense policies. PPFA has more than 4 million activists, supporters, and donors nationwide. It has a network which enables online activists in all 50 states to stay on top of the issues and get involved with campaigns that advance and protect women’s rights and health. Also furthering PPFA’s mission are several advisory boards and initiatives. The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Fortifying PPFA’s commitment to protect women’s health, educate teens, and prevent unintended pregnancies, the Action Fund engages in educational and electoral activity, including public education campaigns, grassroots organizing and legislative advocacy. Globally, PPFA works with local partners in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to increase access to SRH and education. It nurtures local leadership, fosters sustainable health and education programs, and fights for legal, social, and political improvements in communities around the world.

Founded in 1976, the Dominica Planned Parenthood Association (DPPA) focused on providing information and education to support the government’s clinical service delivery programme in its early years. It began delivering contraceptive services in response to the significant contraceptive needs of Dominicans (particularly among adolescents), and the staffing constraints of the government programme. As a result, people could be sure of at least one inexpensive, private outlet where their family planning needs could be fully met. DPPA’s clinic is located the centre of the capital city and provides a range of services including family planning, pregnancy tests, family counselling and PAP smear screening. There’s an established community outreach programme which provides family planning through volunteers and shop owners, and an extensive programme of information and education activities. These include distributing pamphlets and posters, broadcasting short talks about family planning on radio and television and conducting community discussions. The negative effects of Dominca’s high adolescent pregnancy rate are aggravated by local practices that force pregnant girls to drop out of school permanently. To reach young people, DPPA provides sexuality and life skills education in secondary schools and to adolescents outside the school system through rap sessions, lectures, discussions and films. DPPA has also established an Under 20 Club, a teen group that trains its members as peer educators. Formed in 1965, today the Association Guadeloupéenne pour le Planning Familial (AGPF), also known as La Maternite Consciente, oversees maternal and child welfare, and manages immunization, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV/AIDS programmes. It also monitors other work and needs related to sexual and reproductive health (SRH). It operates 5 clinics, which provide contraceptive services, emergency contraception, pregnancy tests, pap smears, STI screening and pre- and post-abortion counselling. AGPF also delivers outreach educational services on contraception and SRH in Creole, to promote the use of clinical services, particularly among migrants from neighbouring islands such as Dominca, Haiti and St.Lucia, who frequently wish to use SRH services but are unable to pay. AGPF's principal source of income is the local government, called the Conseile Generale. The St. Lucia Planned Parenthood Association (SLPPA) is an affiliated member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and the Caribbean Family Planning Affiliation (CFPA).   The St. Lucia Planned Parenthood Association a private, voluntary, non-profit organization which was formed in 1968, with the objective of promoting, providing and advocating for Sexual and Reproductive Health services and rights for all St. Lucian. St. Lucia Planned Parenthood Association continues to be the main source of information on Sexual and Reproductive Health services in St. Lucia. Our main clinic is located in Castries with a piolet clinic in Soufriere as well as a mobile clinic. Though our clinics and 100+ community based distribution points on average we offer over 60,000 services annually.
