Esther Vicente is a Law Professor at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico Law School in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She has a Doctorate in Law from the University of London and a Masters in Law from The London School of Economics and Political Science. In 2014 she was appointed Vice-President of the Human Rights Commission of Puerto Rico
She has devoted much of her professional life to human rights issues, especially gender-based violence, sexual rights and reproductive rights. She has published works on the feminist perspective in legal theory, reproductive rights, sexual rights, violence against women and sexual harassment.
Esther has participated in many forums and international congresses on topics related to women's human rights. Since 2003, she has been a member of the Board of IPPF/WHR and a member of the Governing Council of IPPF; she has been the President of the WHR Regional Council since 2008 and the President of the Board of Directors of PROFAMILIA Puerto Rico from 2002 to 2008.
