GOOGLE response to anti-choice adverts is a welcomed move

Anti – choice groups have been behind a series of adverts posing as crisis pregnancy centres to scare women off seeking information and advice for abortion services. NARAL Pro-Choice America has won a victory against Google after it raised its concerns that the adverts violated their advertising policy.  International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) supports this action as a leading advocate for safe and legal abortion worldwide.

Reacting to the news, IPPF’s Senior Advisor,Manuelle Hurwitz said:

“The International Planned Parenthood Federation welcomes the news that Google has taken the right step. These "crisis pregnancy centers" are nothing more than rogue agencies, hiding under the pretence of caring for women to disseminate inaccurate, unproven and biased information to serve their ideological ends.

We congratulate NARAL Pro-Choice America for their tireless effort in getting Google to take down these ads to ensure women have access to non-judgmental and impartial information and services to help them make a decision that is right for them.”

Last month Global leaders signed up to a declaration calling for universal safe legal abortion after a key two-day meeting that was co-sponsored by Ipas, the International Planned Parenthood Federation, and the Center for Reproductive Rights.
