Gender inequalities remain a significant barrier to addressing Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). To ensure SRHR for all and to prevent Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), harmful gender norms must be transformed into positive ones. This guide is all about you knowing how to do your part to bring about the changes needed to realise gender equality around the world, whatever role or function you play within the Federation. Part I looks at some key theory, and Part II provides tips for different roles and functions within the Federation. This ‘Statement on Hormone Therapy for Transgender and Gender Diverse Persons’ complements and builds on earlier IMAP Statements, including IMAP Statement on Hormone Therapy for Transgender People (October 2015), ‘Sexual Rights and Sexual Health Services’ and ‘Sexual Health and Rights of Adolescents and Young People.’ In these Statements, IPPF explicitly explored the sexual rights and sexual health of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex and described how to provide non‑discriminatory and essential health services required by these populations.

IPPF delivered a total of 226.9 million sexual and reproductive health services, including 5 million safe abortion services, an increase of 11% from 2021. IPPF Member Associations served more vulnerable people in humanitarian settings than ever before: a total of 10 million in 2022. Across the globe, IPPF MAs are fighting back, challenging unjust laws and policies and spreading our powerful messages. We have won major victories. In Colombia, the Latin American Green Wave of abortion rights successes continued as the country’s highest court decriminalized abortion. Globally, IPPF achieved 150 advocacy wins in 2022 to support or defend sexual and reproductive health and rights and gender equality in policy or legislation, 24% more than in 2021. In her day job as one of the world’s top climate scientists, Āina involves other women in decision-making and leadership positions, and ensures financing for climate-related projects is available to women. Recent advances in biomedical HIV prevention technologies mean more choices are available for people to protect themselves from HIV. Therefore, these technologies must be effectively made available and affordable to all populations who need them. All individuals have a right to sexual and reproductive health, and HIV prevention is a key component necessary to ensure health, well-being, positive sexual lives and the upholding of human rights. Access to these new technologies is a key to successfully meeting the Sustainable Development Goal 3.3: ending the AIDS epidemic by 2030. This IMAP Statement is intended to update Member Associations across the Federation on biomedical HIV prevention technologies and support their integration of new biomedical HIV prevention services into comprehensive sexual and reproductive health service delivery.
