Why is upholding sexual rights for all people is a priority of IPPF? How do IPPF staff and volunteers protect, defend and promote sexual rights, globally? With first person experiences and scenarios, the film explains IPPF's Declaration of Sexual Rights, our approach to service delivery and human rights-based advocacy.
In 2014 IPPF launched 'I decide' a campaign for women's and girls' right to decide about their body, who they share their life with and the size of their family.
We've come a long way but this is only the beginning. In 2015 decisions on the UN Development Goals are going to be taken and these will last 15 years. Help ensure women's and girls' right to decide their own future are included in this agenda.
We want to enable all women and girls to decide about their body, the size of their family, their education and future.
We provide services to meet their contraceptive needs, and bring about policy changes locally and globally, as their sexual and reproductive rights are human rights.
This film shows the global mobilization efforts of the I decide campaign from our Member Associations, public supporters and partners to raise attention on the need for gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights to be recognized in the post- 2015 process. The global goals being set by world leaders and the United Nations in the coming months. The support of hundreds and thousands around the world through social media, paper petitions, photos and letters led to a high profile stunt at the time of the United Nations General Assembly in Times square.
Sexual and reproductive health and rights are fundamental human rights. Having access to those rights will bring about huge changes to the lives of women and girls around the world. Only when women and girls have those rights will we have gender equality and only then will we be able to tackle some of the world’s most pressing problems.
In this animation we have used the stories of two girls to illustrate what happens when you give women and girls the power to decide for themselves and the ability to be in control of their own bodies.
