IPPF is seeking a consultant to support our work to improve quality in abortion care through client feedback and input. Quality of care is often driven by service providers' view of quality, with indicators being based on clinical standards of care. However, a client’s view of what quality service provision should be is equally important to assessing and improving quality of care. Assessing client satisfaction in abortion care poses unique challenges that may not impact other types of service delivery, for example limited choice of provider, working in a restricted legal setting, and the impact of abortion stigma. Because of such factors, clients are more likely to expect and accept poor treatment and quality in when receiving abortion care.

Through this consultancy, IPPF aims to develop a tool to assess client feedback as a relevant and accurate indicator of quality abortion care, and use the findings to improve service delivery. The consultant will undertake qualitative research in two countries to inform the development of the tool, following which they will design an easy to use tool that can be implemented in a variety of low resource settings.

This work is to be undertaken in May and June with the final report and client assessment tool to be submitted to IPPF by 14th July 2017. All work will be complete over a total of 25 days.

To apply, please download the Terms of Reference and applications including daily rate and at least one sample of comparable previous work to Rebecca Wilkins ([email protected]) by 17:00 GMT on Friday 14th April 2017.
