Background: The International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is a global service provider and advocate of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for all. IPPF is made up of 118 Member Associations, 15 partners, and a secretariat that is spread over 10 offices worldwide. IPPF currently works in 142 countries.
IPPF is committed to advancing SRHR globally. As part of its mission, IPPF engages in work to address challenges and barriers to these rights. To support IPPF's efforts in engaging with funders interested in tackling opposition to our issues, a consultant is sought to provide expertise and guidance.
Scope of Work:
- Advising and Support for Funder Meetings:
- Identify private philanthropic foundations/institutions in with a focus on countering opposition-related issues.
- Facilitate introductions to relevant staff at identified foundations to arrange meetings.
- Provide advice on framing and pitching tailored to potential partner organizations’ focus areas, theory of change, priority geographies, and approach.
- Fundraising Support:
- Map potential funding networks, emphasizing private philanthropy, but also including bilateral donors, High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs)/individual giving networks, and corporate foundations.
- Review IPPF's existing funding portfolio to identify opportunities for additional fundraising.
- Prioritize potential target funders and provide funder-specific counsel/support on developing pitches.
- Facilitate introductions to potential funders and networks and/or identify opportunities for funder engagement.
- Support for IPPF partners meeting:
- Facilitate workshop design on anti-gender attacks and its manifestations in 2024 and beyond.
Expected Timeline: April - June 2024
Deliverables:
- List of identified private philanthropic foundations/institutions along with map of potential funding networks working in these issues.
- Scheduled meetings with relevant staff at identified foundations.
- Tailored pitches for funders along with session plan and materials for IPPF funders meeting.
- Facilitated introductions to key potential funders/networks.
- Strategic recommendations for to secure funding commitments.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising, particularly in engaging with private philanthropic foundations and high net worth individuals.
- Familiarity with sexual and reproductive health and rights issues, as well as challenges related to opposition to SRHR and gender equality.
- Strong networking and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Understanding of the international development and advocacy landscape.
Expected Level of Effort : Approx. up to 10 days (to be confirmed based on input)
Budget: To be determined based on consultant's input and available resources.
