Overview and purpose
IPPF is seeking a consultant to help with development of a unique client-centred counselling curriculum in HIV/ sexual and reproductive health integrated clinical settings. The consultant will manage the curriculum development process and contribute to development of the client-centred counselling curriculum.
The consultancy is remote and will take place from approximately June to December 2026.
Milestones and deliverables
In conjunction with the Principal Investigator:
- Review and analysis of existing curricula (June-July 2026)
- Development of a content outline (July 2026)
- Write sections of the curriculum, including tools and appendices (July-August 2026)
- Format curriculum in Word (continuous)
- Gather, synthesise, and integrate feedback (July-December 2026)
- Support pilot of curriculum (Autumn 2026)
- Revise and finalize curriculum (December 2026)

Contractor requirements
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in public health, social work, or related field
Experience and skills required
- Senior level expertise in HIV programme implementation in African settings
- Expertise in biomedical HIV prevention in African settings
- Expertise in design and development of training curricula for clinical staff in HIV/SRH programmatic settings in Africa
- Understanding of adult learning theories
- Familiarity with relevant standards and frameworks for client-centred counselling
- Strong technical writing skills; ability to translate complex content into learner-friendly materials
- Ability to synthesise and integrate stakeholder feedback findings into subsequent drafts
- Experience in counselling or clinical social work
- Ability to organize and manage project timelines, deliverables, review cycles, and status reporting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
