SheDecides is a global political movement driving change, fuelled by actions in communities, with young people at its heart. The movement was born in January 2017 as a result of the reinstatement and expansion of the Global Gag Rule and has grown significantly since then. Working together with diverse stakeholders globally, SheDecides works to advance the fundamental right of girls and women everywhere to decide on their bodies, their lives and their future.

The movement is now guided by a Strategy 2019-2021 with a costed workplan and is supported by the SheDecides Support Unit (SDSU), newly hosted under the auspices of the International Planned Parenthood Foundation (IPPF).

The SheDecides Champion Builder is responsible for growing and supporting the network of Champions. Champions are individuals – some representing countries and organizations – who act alone and together to propel us towards a reality where every girl and woman has the power over her body. Champions stand up, speak out. They change laws and policies. They help unlock resources and push to create a new normal. They educate, advocate and open paths for others to do the same. The movement currently has 43 global Champions.

The Champion Builder will oversee the development and implementation of an engagement strategy for Champions (including meaningful engagement of young Champions), proactively advise and support all SheDecides Champions, develop and manage tools to track and manage Champion relations, and ensure that Champions are engaged in priority activities organised by global leaders as well as by SheDecides. They will also oversee the full organisation process, including programme development, for the annual Champions meeting and other convenings of Champions.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in public policy, women’s rights, international development or movement building. They will also have experience in organising global meetings, advancing gender equality and sexual and reproductive health and rights, and working in partnerships on multi country initiatives. They will have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively and credibly with young people and people from diverse backgrounds, and the ability to transform strategies into results.
