For 15 years, IPPF expanded access to safe abortion care through the Global Comprehensive Abortion Care Initiative (GCACI). Through 23 Member Associations in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Middle East, these were GCACI’s main priorities from 2007 to 2021:
To provide clients with quality comprehensive abortion care and contraception
To implement community awareness-raising and stigma reduction strategies
Over the years, we estimate that services provided by GCACI have resulted in:
11.5 million unintended pregnancies averted 
18,036 maternal deaths averted
