There is no moment like the present where it is more urgent to fight for sexual and reproductive health and rights. Are you an activist from a community denied these rights? Maybe you are a strategic finance expert or experience professional wanting to use your skills for good? You might be a young person seeking a channel to fight for a better world for all generations. If so, we need you.
International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is a global service provider and a leading advocate of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) for all. It delivers through a Federation of Member Associations (MAs) in 123 countries and Collaborative Partners in a further 26 countries (as of March 2023). The Secretariat has its registered office in London, UK and prides itself on being local through MAs and Partners and global through our worldwide network.
After the launch of its Come Together Strategy 2023-2028, IPPF is ensuring it is equipped to face the challenges ahead. In this new era, IPPF commits to more daring and feminist action that secures choices about our bodies, sexual lives and well-being. IPPF comes together in support of women, youth and people who are marginalized and excluded. IPPF comes together to transform the communities and countries we live in. For the better.
We are currently seeking three volunteer members for our global Board of Trustees.
The IPPF Board of Trustees sets and monitors the strategic direction of IPPF, reporting to the IPPF General Assembly of Member Associations. The Trustees reflect the skills and the diversity IPPF needs, with nine nominated by Member Associations and six recruited externally; all on the bases of the skills and competencies required to run this exciting, demanding, complex Federation. At least 50% are women and 20% aged under 25 at the time of appointment. Across the 15, we seek rich and varied life experience, global representation, and diversity in all its forms.
At this time, we warmly welcome applications from those with lived experience of groups who are marginalised or discriminated against by their societies and thus deeply understand the struggles of their communities to access their sexual and reproductive health and rights. We would love to hear from you if are an activist/advocate for sex workers rights, trans rights, disability rights, indigenous or racial rights. You could play a fundamental role in ensuring IPPF is doing the right things at the right time to meet its ambitious strategic goals to serve those who face the greatest intersecting barriers to a living a healthy and happy sexual and reproductive life.
IPPF is a Federation with a budget of over US$128 million annually, spread across 12 (twelve) Secretariat offices and 149 Member Associations and collaborative partners working across 145 countries. We operate in multiple currencies, multiple locations, and receive funding from multiple donors. The Board of Trustees, supported by the Committee for Finance, Audit and Risk, plays a vital role in monitoring how the resources of the Secretariat are optimised and expended. We are seeking one or more Trustees with experience in a high level strategic financial, legal, programme delivery and/or fundraising role. As we are currently completing our vertical integration of our Secretariat finance function with key functions now hubbed in Delhi, a Trustee who is a past or current CFO of a complex, multi-country, multi-million-dollar INGO, Foundation or large private sector entity and who brings experience of a similar organisational change process in finance would be a hugely valuable addition to our team
Our IPPF Board of Trustees operates as a team. We see ourselves as partners and collaborators, with each other and with the Director General and his team. We make decisions that matter and treat them and each other with respect, holding others to account as mandated, while also always holding ourselves accountable for what and how we deliver. We see ourselves as but one cog of the whole wheel that is IPPF. We roll our sleeves up and take on our responsibility, to read, to act, to make decisions based on policy, the interrogation of evidence and thoughtful discussion. We therefore seek applications from ‘service leaders’, those who come with qualities of listening, empathy, healing, awareness, persuasion, conceptualization, foresight, stewardship, commitment to the growth of people, and building community, and believe them to be foundational in achieving SRHR for all.
If you wish to apply please complete our Safer Recruitment Form and Skill Matrix and submit together with your CV and a cover letter to [email protected]. We are seeking applications from individuals who can represent South East Asia, South America or Eastern Europe as we currently have no representation on our Board from these regions.
