Statement from IPPF Director General Tewodros Melesse
"Jo Cox campaigned tirelessly for women's rights around the world. Her life and career were based entirely on public service and seeking to do good. To those at IPPF who knew Jo, she was also a great friend.
As director of the Maternal Mortality campaign she helped bring global political attention to the issue of maternal and new-born health and saved lives around the world.
Jo was a passionate humanitarian who championed the rights of women, children, the marginalised and the under-served through her work at Oxfam and many other charities.
The same passion for helping those most in need of help was evident in her tireless lobbying as a new MP for the people of Syria.
As Jo's husband Brendan has so movingly said her legacy is to do what she would have wanted us to do: fight against the hatred that killed her."
