MEXFAM - Fundación Mexicana para la Planeación Familiar
MEXFAM works in 25 of the 32 Mexican states. It runs 85 service points, including 19 permanent clinics, 63 mobile facilities and through partnerships with 3 associate clinics. MEXFAM covers the full gamut of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) needs and issues, including contraception, antenatal/post-natal care, maternal and child health, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) including HIV and AIDS, and information and education programmes. There is a particular bias towards serving those communities not reached by the government’s programme, including the economically disadvantaged, the rural poor, young people and men. Of particular importance to the development of MEXFAM’s work has been the training of a network of teachers in priority areas who received 4 years training, and subsequently went on to train 98,000 young people and 16,000 parents in family planning and sexual and reproductive health. Saint Lucia Planned Parenthood Association
SLPPA aims to promote family welfare and reduce the incidence of unwanted pregnancies, particularly among adolescents, through a strengthened family life education programme and quality sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care services which complement government provision. SLPPA's strategy consists of heightening the awareness of population and development issues. It provides quality contraceptive and reproductive health services in both clinical and non-clinical environments, both through independent outlets and in partnership with health authoritiy facilities. It has 1 permanent and 1 associated clinic, and is linked with 38 government and 14 private centres. It manages a 313-strong community-based distributor (CBD) network. The organization has an industrial programme which provides information and services direct to workforces in a number of locations, and it conducts national education via lectures, media discussions, input into popular TV drama, the production of videos and counselling. SLPPA is an associate member of an umbrella organization known as the Caribbean Family Planning Affiliation Ltd (CFPA). The Caribbean Family Planning Affiliation (CFPA) is the only regional non-governmental organization (NGO) devoted to family planning and sexual and reproductive health in the Caribbean. CFPA serves 13 island Member Associations and 5 Associate Member Associations in the Caribbean, Central and South America. It supports these Associations with technical assistance and materials, and represents their collective interests at IPPF meetings and in the Caribbean region among governments and NGOs. CFPA Member Associations are located in Anguilla, Antigua, Aruba, Bahamas, Bermuda, Curacao, Dominica, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Nevis and St. Kitts, St. Lucia and St. Vincent. CFPA Associate Member Associations are located in Belize, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago. The CFPA does not offer any clinical services or distribute family planning methods to clients, but rather focuses its work on governance and institution-building among its Member Associations. The CFPA oversees, manages and analyses core grants to 7 Caribbean Member Associations. The CFPA also submits project proposals for donor funding on behalf of the Associations.
