The World Bank Group (WBG) is a global multilateral organisation, responsible for funding development across the world. One of the areas the WBG funds is health, including sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). IPPF’s advocacy is focused on monitoring the WBG’s political commitment and funding for SRHR, and making sure that civil society is involved in financing processes for SRHR. IPPF has been advocating for the World Bank Group (WBG) to increase its investment in SRHR and to ensure transparency and accountability of its investments. This work includes working with both the Health and the Gender teams at the WBG to make sure that SRHR remains a priority for the development bank.
IPPF works through the Bretton Woods Project to influence the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) financing of women’s rights including SRHR. To find out more about how this work read the latest briefing by BWP on the International Monetary Fund, macro-economic policy and gender equality.
