Member Associations

The BFPA also known as the Barbados Family Planning Association is a benevolent organization created to protect, serve, and empower every Barbadian with their Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights embedded in a human and Sexual rights approach. The Association carries out its mission in the following ways clinical and medical service; education; national, community and individual intervention programs; strategic advocacy; intense research; provision of data; and most importantly protecting the most vulnerable and marginalised groups in society. It was established by an act of Parliament in 1954 and governed by an elected group of volunteers. The Association is an independent entity and governed by a constitution. The BFPA for transparency and accountability is governed by a Board of Ten (10) Elected Directors (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relation Officer and Five Floor members which consist of two youth members). For further accountability and transparency, several government agencies have ex-officio representatives on the Board these are the Ministry of Health and Wellness, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Ministry of Education and Innovation, and the private sector. The diversity is further reflected through our Board and member with additional ex-officio e.g., LGBTQI Persons, Women’s groups, youth, and other partners. The Association is operationally managed by an Executive Director who is supported by highly technical, skilled, and qualified staff. Through a well-managed and sustainable revitalization process, the BFPA membership and board reflects the diversity that is in Barbados, with the following characteristics:  age, ethnicity, religious preference, disability, sexuality, and socio-economic diversity. The BFPA has one location which is a comprehensive clinical facility and community social service hub. With the reorganisation of the work of the BFPA under the societal impact and sustainability pillars of Medical and Clinical Services, Commodity Distribution, Sexual Rights Advocacy and Intervention Programming, Counselling and Mental Health Support, and lastly the protection of the freedom of all to have Sexual Pleasure in a safe, respectful, and private manner.  

Profamilia is a private non-profit organization that, for more than five decades, has been promoting and defending the exercise of sexual and reproductive rights of the population in Colombia so that they can make free, safe and informed decisions about their sexuality, without discrimination, coercion or violence. Through its five strategic lines of action: IPS, Farma, Educa, Incidencia/Advocacy, Investigaciones y Proyectos Sociales/Social Projects and Research-, Profamilia has positioned itself as a reference in the generation of wellbeing and social change; in the execution of international cooperation projects; in the provision of health services in remote populations; in comprehensive education for sexuality; among other actions that favor the lives of millions of people. The organization has more than 40 clinics throughout Colombia, making it the private health institution with the greatest coverage in the country and the second largest in developing countries. Every year, Profamilia provides more than 2,900,000 services and attends more than 450,000 people, most of them in vulnerable conditions.

The Jamaica Family Planning Association (JFPA) has been a pioneer of family planning services in Jamaica since its inception in 1957 and an advocate for the provision of quality sexual and reproductive health services.   In its more than 60 years of service, JFPA has expanded beyond family planning clinical and educational service provision but has remained faithful to its Mission: To contribute to a better quality of life for all Jamaicans by providing the highest quality comprehensive clinical and non-clinical sexual and reproductive health services that address the needs of adolescents, women and men, especially those in underserved rural and urban areas. The Association currently provides the services from its 2 fixed clinics - Beth Jacobs Clinic in St. Ann and Lenworth Jacobs Clinic in Kingston.     The Association serves residents in 5 of Jamaica’s 14 parishes through its clinics and its Youth Advocacy Movement (YAM). In 2019, a total of 6316 services were provided by the Association. The Association is a staunch advocate for Comprehensive Sexuality Education, respect for the human rights of vulnerable populations. In these areas, the Association works both independently and in partnership with other CSOs. FAMPLAN is an associate member of the umbrella organization the Caribbean Family Planning Affiliation. The Caribbean Family Planning Affiliation (CFPA) is the only regional non-governmental organization (NGO) devoted to family planning and sexual and reproductive health in the Caribbean. CFPA serves 13 island Member Associations and 5 Associate Member Associations in the Caribbean, Central and South America. It supports these Associations with technical assistance and materials, and represents their collective interests at IPPF meetings and in the Caribbean region among governments and NGOs. CFPA Member Associations are located in Anguilla, Antigua, Aruba, Bahamas, Bermuda, Curacao, Dominica, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Nevis and St. Kitts, St. Lucia and St. Vincent. CFPA Associate Member Associations are located in Belize, Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago. The CFPA does not offer any clinical services or distribute family planning methods to clients, but rather focuses its work on governance and institution-building among its Member Associations. The CFPA oversees, manages and analyses core grants to 7 Caribbean Member Associations. The CFPA also submits project proposals for donor funding on behalf of the Associations.

We are a civil society organization promoting access to health, education and defence of sexual and reproductive rights, based on an intersectional, human rights, gender and culturally relevant approach. Since 1969 it has been a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). MEXFAM provides the population with informative content, educational and medical services, based on evidence generated through the implementation of applied and participatory research, with a methodology of comprehensive sexuality education and community health. MEXFAM carries out public policy advocacy actions in favour of justice, defence and promotion of rights. Mission: MEXFAM is a Mexican civil society organisation dedicated to improving the quality of life of the population through the provision of quality sexual and reproductive health services and comprehensive sexuality education with a focus on gender, rights and the construction of citizenship. Vision: MEXFAM works to make Mexico a country that guarantees the free decision of all people about their sexuality, without violence or discrimination. The Instituto Peruano de Paternidad Responsable (INPARRES) operates an extensive network of over 1,800 service points which include 16 permanent clinics, 1 mobile facility and over 1,000 associated facilities. Its Family Planning Brigades reach out to nearly 500,000 people in remote communities. The organization works with community groups and private doctors to integrate family planning services into maternal and child health programmes, and to conduct wide-ranging information, education and communication (IEC) activities. INPARRES also provides training in the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV and AIDS, to health workers, teachers and journalists. INPPARES’s far-reaching youth programme employs doctors, social workers, psychologists, health educators, youth volunteers, communications experts and employment counsellors to undertake outreach work in schools, youth centres, communities and a wide range of informal outdoor locations – including beaches, markets and music events. INPARRES holds sexual and reproductive health fairs 3 times a year together with government ministries and campaigning groups such the Ministry of Health, the Homosexual Movement of Lima and Via Libre (an AIDS organization).

Lobi Health Center Foundation has been contributing to Suinamese health since 1968 by providing qualitative integrated sexual and reproductive healthcare services.  Services include prevention and early detection of cancer and other non-communicable diseases, prevention of unwanted pregnancies as well as fertility guidance, HIV and STI testing, education and psychological support that respect the sexual rights of everyone. Annually an average of 20,000 people through 3 permanent locations and 30 mobile visits in 9 of the 10 districts in the country are serviced by Lobi. Established in 1956, the Family Planning Association of Trinidad and Tobago (FPATT) is a well-respected non-governmental organization in Trinidad and Tobago acknowledged by our civil society peers and the Government as a leader in the delivery of sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services to the population.  FPATT consistently provides an integrated package of essential services to men, women and young people. As a Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) advocate, Gender Based Violence is a key issue addressed in FPATT’s Programmes. FPATT’s historical commitment to leaving no one behind continues to ring true in its engagement with marginalised communities. Its team remains dedicated to providing services to migrants, sex workers and LGBTQ+ people with respect and dignity.  FPATT’s success is highly dependent on brokering partnerships ergo funding. It also welcomes donations from the public and private enterprises who are similarly committed to human rights. With support from donor funding FPATT’s efforts can be amplified and reach our citizens that need it most. FPATT is a fully accredited member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). Locally, FPATT falls under the purview of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services and works closely with the Ministry of Health.  VISION: FPATT is a Leader in the Caribbean Region promoting and ensuring sexual & reproductive health and rights for all. MISSION: To ensure that every person living in Trinidad and Tobago acknowledges the right to the healthy expression of their sexuality and that all persons including the most vulnerable are supported in realizing this right.

On campuses and online, in statehouses and courts, in community settings, and in the media, PPFA is a visible and passionate advocate for policies that enable Americans to access comprehensive reproductive and sexual health care, education, and information. Whether talking with members of Congress, parents, or faith leaders, or arguing cases before the U.S. Supreme Court, PPFA fights for commonsense policies. PPFA has more than 4 million activists, supporters, and donors nationwide. It has a network which enables online activists in all 50 states to stay on top of the issues and get involved with campaigns that advance and protect women’s rights and health. Also furthering PPFA’s mission are several advisory boards and initiatives. The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Fortifying PPFA’s commitment to protect women’s health, educate teens, and prevent unintended pregnancies, the Action Fund engages in educational and electoral activity, including public education campaigns, grassroots organizing and legislative advocacy. Globally, PPFA works with local partners in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to increase access to SRH and education. It nurtures local leadership, fosters sustainable health and education programs, and fights for legal, social, and political improvements in communities around the world.

Action Canada for Sexual Health & Rights is a progressive, pro-choice charitable organization committed to advancing and upholding sexual and reproductive health and rights in Canada and globally. They are an organization that works in Canada and around the world to promote health, wellbeing, and rights related to sexuality and reproduction. Building on the 50-year legacy of the organizations that formed Action Canada, we provide direct support, referrals, and information to the people who need it most, partner with groups and organizations on a range of campaigns using a collaborative, movement-building approach, and work with decision-makers to advance progressive policies on access to abortion, stigma-free healthcare, gender equality, LGBTQ rights, and inclusive sex-ed. Following decades of activism, three of Canada’s leading sexual and reproductive health and rights organizations saw an opportunity for a strengthened voice in policy, health promotion, and access to information and a way to engage others across Canada and around the world in the sexual and reproductive health and rights movement. The 2014 amalgamation allowed each of the three organizations to build on one another’s histories, strengths and shared vision. Canadians for Choice (formerly CARAL) and the Canadian Federation for Sexual Health (formerly Planned Parenthood Federation of Canada) would benefit from the policy expertise of Action Canada for Population and Development (ACPD) and the organization’s international partnerships, while ACPD would profit from frontline knowledge and experience in Canada. A newly bridged gap between the national and global context was made and our shared history has set the stage for an organization that works in collaboration across all levels.

Asociacion Las Crisálidas - Guatemala's mission is to contribute and strengthen leadership, empowerment and transformation in the lives of girls, adolescents, youth and women through the implementation of programs in education, knowledge and empowerment of human rights and in action of analysis, reflection, advocacy and research that promote more equitable and egalitarian relations between women and men in Guatemala. The organization is recognized for its contributions to human rights, education, integral health, empowerment, development of life projects of girls, adolescents, young women and diverse women in Guatemala.
