Member Associations

The Tunisian Association for Reproductive Health (ATSR), created in April 1968, works in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and promotes rights through a multi-sectoral partnership.  ATSR provides and facilitates access to SRH information and services, particularly for women, young people and the most underserved and vulnerable populations including migrants and refugees, LGBT, PLHIV, and sex workers.   ATSR also provides comprehensive sexuality education programmes for young people in and out of school to develop their capacity to empower themselves and assert their right to dignity, equality and a healthy, satisfying and responsible sexual life. ATSR has five service delivery centres and three mobile units. In 2020, ATSR provided approximately 200,000 SRH services to 40,000 beneficiaries.  

The Syrian Family Planning Association was created at 1974. SFPA's strategic framework for the period 2016-2022 includes: Our vision: Syrian society enjoys sexual and reproductive health and rights based on free choices without any discrimination. Our mission: To lead a locally owned, globally connected civil society movement that provides and enables services and champions sexual and reproductive health and rights for all especially undeserved. Our values: Social inclusion, commitment, diversity, respect, passion, volunteerism, accountability. To achieve the mission and vision the Syrian Family Planning strategic framework have the number of 4 outcomes each one includes 2 priority objectives as following: Outcome 1: The government respects, protects and activates sexual and reproductive rights and equal gender opportunities. Gaining support of decision-makers, opinion leaders and parliamentarians obligation to carry out the necessary amendments in legislation, policies and practices. Empowerment of youth and women's leaders and their engagement as advocates for change.  Outcome 2: 2,300,000 people have free choices regarding their sexual and reproductive health and rights and protected from gender based violence. Enable young people to access comprehensive sexual education. Raising community awareness through engagement of champions, opinion formers and the media to promote health, choice and rights. Outcome 3: 24.5 million quality integrated sexual and reproductive health services delivered, particularly in humanitarian cases. Deliver integrated package of sexual and reproductive health services, especially in humanitarian cases. Enable sexual and reproductive health services among partners, particularly in humanitarian cases. Outcome 4: A high performing, united, committed and accountable association. Enhance operational effectiveness and double income at the national level. Enhance our volunteer and activist supporter base. SFPA branches distributed all over Syria in 13 governorates (Syria have 14 governorate, AlRaqa still out of the government control).  SFPA is running several projects related sexual reproductive health, focusing on maternal and child health, during the crisis SFPA expand  its services delivery points and do integration for gender base violence counselling services in all its health services using psychosocial support, and case manager. The SFPA Services delivery points at the 13th governorates are as following: 43 paediatric static clinics. 29 mobile team paediatricians. 14 mobile teams for malnutrition screening. 38 RH static clinics. 25 medical RH mobile teams. 1 obstetric and delivery hospital. 1 mammogram. 18 women and girls safe spaces /WGSS/. 24 PSS mobile teams supporting WGSS. 12 youth centers. The framework of SFPA activities focus on the following fields: SRH, Sexual reproductive health. GBV, gender base violence. Child health. Malnutrition prevention for pregnant woman and children under 5. Number of SFPA volunteers around 650, number of SFPA employees around 980.         

The Sudan Family Planning Association (SFPA) was established in 1965 by pioneers in obstetrics and gynaecology in response to increases in maternal, neonatal and infant mortality and morbidity. As the statistics show, Sudan is a country in great need of frontline sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services. Advocacy, and undertaking information, education and communication (IEC) programmes are critical. SFPA is one of the leading organizations in Sudan providing a wide range of sexual and reproductive health services. A rights-based organisation, SFPA is part of the global movement of strong voices safeguarding SRHR issues. SFPA is pioneer in providing youth friendly services and educational reproductive health information for young people. A major priority for SFPA is improving the status of women and enhancing their understanding of their rights. The organization aligns SRH closely with development initiatives for women. Economic independence, or the capacity to make a significant contribution to a family’s income, empowers women, and with economic empowerment comes the potential for greater control over reproductive health and family planning. In Sudan (particularly in rural areas) harmful practices such as female genital mutilation are widespread. SFPA is vigorous in combating FGM. SFPA has played a key role in the design, testing and implementation of the HIV and AIDS Stigma Index, and has undertaken critical work in HIV prevention initiatives amongst at-risk groups. It’s a founder member of the Sudan AIDS Network (SAN). It’s highly active as a technical adviser to the government on population policy, and it advocates strenuously for financial and political support for sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR).    

The Somaliland Family Health Association (SOFHA) is a community-based organization rooted in improving the SRHR lives of the communities we serve. Our aim is to provide more direct SRH services, advance legislation that supports quality SRHR and reach a broad range of community members, especially young people and the poor.  In our 2 clinics we serve around 4000 women and girls each year. We provide comprehensive integrated SRH services including antenatal, postnatal, delivery, family planning and paediatric services. We also reach 1,000s of women, young people and men each year in our community health education programmes.   

Established in Jerusalem in 1964, the Palestinian Family Planning and Protection Association (PFPPA) is locally registered as an independent, non-profit and non-governmental associations with its headquarter office being in Jerusalem. According to PFPPA’s 2016- 2022 Strategic plan, it aims to: Modify policies and decisions to respect Sexual Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and gender equity. Provide information for people to make well informed decision and choices regarding their SRHR. Deliver rights based, high quality integrated SRH services.  Enhance the association is high performing, efficient, transparent and accountable. PFPPA has service delivery points, located in the West Bank Areas of Ramallah, Bethlehem, Hebron and Halhoul, in addition to one in the Gaza Strip. Furthermore, and in cooperation with local partners PFPPA is also responsible for 5 safe spaces to provide Gender Based Violence (GBV) related services in the Jerusalem area. PFPPA is known for the provision of comprehensive and diverse services, mainly related to: Sexual and reproductive health services (including that related to GBV), particularly for girls and women. Demand generation and mobile medical team activities reaching the most marginalized groups and areas.  Raising awareness on SRH including comprehensive sexuality education (in and out of schools).  Mobilizing activists and civil society actors to advocate for reforming laws that advance SRH and influence national policy. Conducting applied national studies related to unmet SRH needs.  Training for young leaders, staff, service providers and community leaders from local governmental and non-governmental organizations.  In the past two years alone, PFPPA has been able to reach nearly 190,000 clients with over 850,000 services, over 80% being poor and vulnerable and over 85% being female also noting the vast majority being served within a humanitarian context.

The Moroccan Family Planning Association (AMPF) is a non-governmental organization, created in 1971 and recognized as being of public utility in 1972. AMPF is under the Honorary Presidency of Her Royal Highness Lalla Meryem and the effective Presidency of Mrs. Zahara Meziane Ammor. The Moroccan Family Planning Association (AMPF) is a member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) since 1971. Thus, it is part of a civil society movement, present internationally and managed locally and nationally, that provides and facilitates access to sexual and reproductive health services and advocates for the rights of all individuals without discrimination or stigmatization: women, youth, and men, especially the underserved and marginalized groups. AMPF's mission is to promote Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), provide comprehensive and quality sexual and reproductive health services, and facilitate access to SRH services for the population, especially the underserved and vulnerable. This mission is part of a global vision of a Morocco where all individuals enjoy their SRH rights and exercise free, informed choice without stigma or discrimination. Our values are: Accountability Social Inclusion Volunteerism Diversity Commitment AMPF has 8 branch committees, about more than 110 active volunteers, several branch youth committees with 1000 youth in total, 27 Service Delivery Centers and an offer of 398,000 various services performed for the benefit of the population in 2019. The main services we offer are gyneacological consultations, ultrasound, screening tests, and biological tests and family planning counselling. Other types of consultations are also available to meet the needs of our beneficiaries.  

The Mauritanian Association for the Promotion of the Family is a member association of the IPPF. It was created in 1988 and works mainly in the provision of SRH/FP services. AMPF works to ensure that all individuals, especially the underserved and vulnerable, have access to high quality SRH information and services. Services are delivered through 4 fixed centers (Dar Naim, Carrefour, Rosso, Nouadhibou):  2 maternity centers (1 in the Malian refugee camp in M'Berra and 1 in Dar Naim); 3 mobile teams and 4 youth information and education centers (1 in Rosso, 1 in Kaédi, 1 in Dar Naim and 1 in Nouadhibou)  

The Egyptian Family Planning Association (EFPA) is one of the Arab World and Africa’s primary volunteer-based associations working in family planning. Founded in 1958, EFPA is a strong, well-established, transparent and competent association, bound by the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity – MoSS administrative supervision, in addition to, the Ministry of Health and Population - MoHP technical supervision. In line with its new strategic plan 2016-2022 and in accordance with the SDG’s, EFPA’s vision aspires to see all people in Egypt free regarding their sexual and reproductive choices, free from violence and discrimination. EFPA’s mission resides in continuing to lead volunteerism on SRHR, primarily through service provision, awareness raising and women and girls’ rights and empowerment, as well as, advocating for sexual and reproductive rights for all, particularly, the underprivileged and most at-risk groups. EFPA’s current scope of work within its present strategy 2016-2022, is focused on four different outcomes, namely advocacy, information and awareness raising, high-quality service provision, as well as, quality performance. On advocacy, information and awareness raising aspect, EFPA aspires that the government will respect and protect sexual and reproductive health and rights, as well as, gender equality; and people will be able to act freely in terms of their choices regarding their sexual and reproductive health and rights. The association provides awareness sessions, single sessions, as well as, a complete gender-sensitive approach Comprehensive Sexuality Education program, with special focus on young people including young women and men through its 16 different Youth Friendly Clinics - YFCs, in order to, positively affect their behaviours and life choices. The access to information and awareness raising for young people positively reflects on their access to services through EFPA’s offered Youth Friendly Services - YFSc and their understanding of their rights, leading to their empowerment and an ability to lead an informed, happier and healthier life. As for service provision EFPA adopts a beneficiaries-centred approach, where it seeks to provide 10,899,269 high-quality SRH service. The following services are offered in 102 different SDPs throughout 20 governorates, where the Integrated Package of Essential Services is provided, offering counselling services, contraception services, referral for safe abortion care (to the extent of the law) with pre- and post-abortion counselling, STIs/ RTIs treatment services, HIV/AIDS services, gyneacology services, prenatal care, in addition to, GBV services. Finally, but most importantly is EFPA’s commitment to sustain a unified, high performing and accountable association status. Thus, aspiring to positively serve and contribute to the advancement and development of the Egyptian society in terms of the SRHR field in collaboration with other entities whether governmental or other non-profit organizations, in order to, help empower all people to make, better and more informed healthier life choices.  

The Bahrain Reproductive Health Association (BRHA) is a public association, but does not provide any clinical services. It was established on 1975, by a group of Bahraini youth to serve the Bahrain community with commitment and accountability towards national and human responsibility.  Through voluntary trained and specialized personnel, SRH targets include:  Increase awareness and knowledge about reproductive health and the importance of family planning as a human need for the community. Increase women's knowledge about their reproductive rights, and enable them to practice their rights and make their own decisions.  Increase men's responsibility and participation in reproductive health issues. Prepare youth for parenthood responsibilities, and improve care provided to adolescents. Communicate with decision makers and community leaders to support positive attitude towards reproductive health.  These are achieved by the following: Increase awareness about reproductive health among the community through seminars, lectures, leaflets and educational articles.  Train volunteers to become specialists in reproductive health and family planning. Provide reproductive health counselling through the counselling centre in the association. Increase cooperation and coordination with governmental authorities, associations, social clubs and different media facilities to promote reproductive health. Increase cooperation and coordination with all agents concerned in combating and preventing HIV. 

The Algerian Association for Family Planning (AAPF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation (NGO), created in 1987. The Algerian Association for Family Planning works for the well-being and development of the individual and the family and promotion of sexual and reproductive rights, and the rights of women and young people. Vision: An Algeria where all individuals make free and informed choices and enjoy full sexual and reproductive health rights, without discrimination or stigma. Mission: To advocate for rights, facilitate sexual and reproductive health services, and ensure access to information for all, especially for vulnerable and underserved groups. AAPF believes: In social inclusion, with a commitment to vulnerable and underserved populations to benefit from sexual and reproductive health rights. In diversity and respect for all people without discrimination. That passion inspires and encourages adherence to and advocacy for sexual and reproductive health rights. That accountability requires transparency and performance that meets the expectations of partners and beneficiaries. Objectives and targets include: Strengthen the commitment of decision-makers to improve the legislative and policy framework for sexual and reproductive health rights, policies in favour of sexual and reproductive health rights and improve the legislative and policy framework for sexual and reproductive health rights.  To increase the support and commitment of civil society, particularly women's and youth groups, to the defence of sexual and reproductive health rights. Improve access to comprehensive sexuality education for young people. To increase the population's knowledge of sexual and reproductive health rights. To increase the supply of quality sexual and reproductive health services in collaboration with health partners. To improve the operational efficiency and double the income of AAPF. Expand the base of volunteers and people interested and involved.
